TEACHABLE ties to Lady O.
Less than a week later, after I had my TEACHABLE epiphany, I was paying no attention to whatever television channel was on when a commercial caught my attention. There was Oprah- The goddess of programming herself- telling me about the opportunity she was sponsoring to have your own tv show on her new network, OWN (The Oprah Winfrey Network, of course). Ding! Well, I just had a great idea and there she is telling me it could get produced! I scurried to the internet and found the rules and guidelines to submit a show. Condense your program presentation to under 3 minutes, use tools from her website to produce your video, fill out reames of lengthy paperwork, and fill out a personality questionnaire. Simple. I thought the video would be the thoughest part. That is until I began said questionnaire and spent 8 hours at my computer reliving past accomplishments, middle school embarrassments, answering tricky questions that I'm sure had some type of Freudian connotation to my relationship with my mother, and condensing my life story to something TV producers might be interested in. Oprah knows more about me than most boyfriends. And I trust her not to repeat that story about ... Never mind.
I only had a short time to complete the requirements and get my video submitted before voting began. You could enter up until the end of the competition, but since it was voter based, I knew I needed as much time as I could get! I hastily wrote, recorded, and edited my little brainchild into a tidy 3 minute spot for Oprah. (while continually pulling my hair out over the completion of the personality assessment)
It looked like this...
It is clearly amateurish and under produced, but I did what I could and hoped that my idea and my enthusiasm would shine through.
